2008 Gary Hague, of Hague's Christmas Trees, Hatfield Township, competed in the national wreath contest held at the annual meeting of National Christmas Tree Association in Des Moines, Iowa, August, 2008. In a field of 21 entries, he received second place for his undecorated wreath and third place for his decorated wreath. Gary earned the right to represent Pennsylvania in the national competition by winning first place in both categories at the annual winter meeting of Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers' Association. Both winning wreaths were made of Nordmann fir grown in Hatfield. Holly, winterberry, yarrow, and cones were used with a plaid flannel bow on the decorated wreath.
